SEBI Chairman Shri C.B.Bhave at PT universe

PT universe was graced today by the august presence of Mr. Chandrashekhar Bhaskar Bhave, Chairman, Securities and Exchanges Board of India (SEBI). His auspicious presence at PT universe not only enlightened the students about the various experiences of his life, but also gave a deep insight into the regulatory norms laid down by SEBI. Founder Chairman, PT universe Mr. Sandeep Manudhane and Dean (Academics) PROTON business school Prof. Vinay Goyal extended a warm floral welcome to Mr. Bhave.

Narrating his fantastic journey of success, Mr Bhave - an engineer by qualification - shared how he came to the civil services, became an administrator, then got into depository as Chairman & Managing Director National Securities Depository Ltd. (NSDL) and then into the regulatory role as the SEBI Chairman. He said - 'you can’t plan everything in life. One needs to look within before giving up'. He emphasized on the fact that one must not let the opportunities go by.

Mr. Bhave reminded the future managers that organizations became successful only if people learn to work in a team. He explained the importance of a "team" and asked the students to focus on 'what went wrong' rather than ‘who did wrong’, and ‘which team did wrong’. He strongly asked the students to fix the problems rather than fixing responsibilities with the help of strong systems and processes. He said - “Human minds work in a very interesting manner; it assembles the task and performs”.

After a fruitful speech, several questions were posed to him by the inquisitive students and Mr. Bhave answered all of them with ample patience. In a question regarding the Indian stock market following US models, Mr. Bhave strongly advocated India’s position stating that Indian Stock market does not follow US or other business models.

He accepted the presence of 'Insider Trading' and said that SEBI is trying to curb it through confessions in some cases, and is finding ways to control it. He accepted the fact that due to the non availability of circumstantial evidences it is sometimes difficult to prove.

He commented that due to strict guidelines of RBI, the effect of recession was comparatively less as compared to US and other countries. To reinforce his statement he quoted that in the US bailout was given to financial companies whereas in India it was given to farmers!

The Founder Chairman, PT universe Mr. Sandeep Manudhane extended a heartful thanks to Mr. C.B. Bhave for giving PT universe his valuable time.
